The skin is made up of three main layers – the epidermis, dermis and hypodermis. The epidermis is the outer most layer which provides our waterproof barrier and creates skin tone. It is within the epidermis where dead skin cells sit. Glycolic skin peels work in a variety of ways but primarily by exfoliating and penetrating the upper layer of the epidermis weakening the binding properties of the lipids that hold dead skin cells together by adjusting the PH level.
Here at M.I.A we use 40% and 70% medical grade superficial peels. The benefits of these peels mean that there is no down time, no peeling, and it can be used safely on all skin types. Treatable conditions include acne (including active pustule) pigmentation changes, to reduce fine lines, resurface dull and lifeless skin and improve tone and texture.
Skin peels can be taken as a one off treatment if you have a special event or function where you would like your skin to glow and look its best, or you can book a course to obtain longer term results and achieve the best from your treatments. They may also be used as part of a skin care package alongside Anti-Wrinkle injections – whilst the muscles are relaxed collagen can be reproduced by rejuvenating the skin with a one off skin peel or a course.
